Height - 41-42 cm, weight - 1800-1900 g.
Subcutaneous fat has been accumulated in sufficient quantities and in the case of premature birth, the baby will be able to quite successfully regulate his body temperature.
The amount of surfactant in the lungs increases, the baby trains to breathe and swallows amniotic fluid, which is why he hiccups quite often.
The baby's nerve cells are actively working, they receive a special protective and conductive sheath - myelin. Therefore, now signals are transmitted through the baby's nervous system much faster, and the baby is able to learn even in the mother's womb.
The child perfectly feels the taste of his environment, reacts well to light, if he manages to penetrate the clothes and the body of the mother, and sound. Red blood cells are now produced by the bone marrow, which also becomes the main hematopoietic organ of your child's body.
By the end of the month, the presentation of the fetus is determined (its position in the uterus at the time of delivery). In most cases, this is a cephalic presentation (head down), in 4% of cases, a breech presentation (legs or bottom down), very rarely a transverse or oblique presentation.
In the case of breech presentation, labor becomes more difficult, and the doctor may decide on a cesarean section. Delivery in a transverse or oblique position of the fetus always occurs by caesarean section. The eighth month is the last, when the baby is actively moving and kicking. Then he will become too big and it will be difficult for him to toss and turn in his mother's tummy.
Average weight gain by the end of 8 months is about 11 kg. The height of the fundus of the uterus is 32 cm. You have entered the home stretch. From the 30th week, working mothers are entitled to maternity leave.
Don't forget that now you see your doctor at least once a week! During a visit to the doctor, you take routine blood and urine tests, smears for infections, HIV tests, CTG and Doppler ultrasound.

You need to get a certificate even if you pay for childbirth.
Most women endure the final weeks of pregnancy, except that a large belly is quite noticeable inconvenience. The baby is growing rapidly, rests his heels under the mother's ribs, because of this it is difficult for her to breathe, bend over, sit and lie down.
The urge to urinate increases. But there is very little left to be patient - there are several weeks left until the end of pregnancy.
Some women may even experience bouts of late toxicosis: motion sickness in transport, dizziness, weakness. But if the symptoms become too severe, there is a sharp headache, light-headedness, severe pressure drops, kidney problems, then you must definitely inform your doctor about this. These signs may indicate preeclampsia or gestosis, in which case the woman needs medical attention.
Other problems include back and pelvic pain due to loose ligaments. They must be quite tolerant, otherwise you should consult a doctor - suddenly you have problems with the spine, because the load on it is now very large.
Legs and feet may swell. Monitor their condition to prevent the occurrence of edema. Try to sit less, walk more, wear comfortable shoes. If you are sitting, keep your feet raised.
Your breasts begin to actively produce colostrum, so there will be enough food for your baby by the time of birth. Sometimes colostrum is even released from the breast, especially if this is not the first birth and you have been breastfeeding.
Prepare your breasts for breastfeeding - you can massage it with your hands or a towel (in a circle from top to bottom towards the middle of the breast), wash your nipples, but without soap, so as not to dry your skin.
The eighth month can be very nervous for the expectant mother, because her psychological state is changing. Usually, at this time, women feel everything sharply, almost like at the very beginning of pregnancy, but now a very real fear of childbirth is added. We recommend that you see a psychologist who can help you overcome prenatal depression.
