Height - 38 cm, weight - 1400 g.
If at the beginning of pregnancy, literally every day of your baby's life was accompanied by global changes, now there is only the development of what is already there.
The main task of the child now is to prepare for birth: to build up fat in order to regulate body temperature, accumulate surfactant in the lungs in order to be able to breathe independently, develop vision, hearing, taste, smell, touch.
By the way, now the baby feels the taste of his environment very well. There are even more taste buds in his mouth than will remain after birth. And the nose was freed from the mucous plug and now the amniotic fluid gets there.
Each time she swallows, she rinses his mouth and nose, and at the same time teaches him to recognize taste and smell. Therefore, beware of eating something that your baby will not like - he will start hiccuping irritably and pushing you with his legs.
The child's adrenal glands are now actively producing the male sex hormone, which, having made a cycle in the child's circulatory system, turns into estrogen and stimulates the appearance of colostrum in the mother. Thus, the baby already takes care of having food when he is born.
The bone marrow now produces red blood cells on its own and becomes the main hematopoietic organ in your child's body.
Mom's main fear this week is a possible diagnosis of intrauterine growth retardation (IAD). It sounds really scary and suggests Down's disease or mental illness. In fact, this diagnosis has no connection with the development of the brain and mental functions.
Doctors in this way only state that the height and weight of the baby are lagging behind in some parameters from the norm, and it is necessary to closely look after him and his mother in order to avoid complications and premature birth.
Development delay can be caused by serious reasons requiring treatment: anemia in the mother, her smoking or alcoholism, diets and little weight gain during pregnancy (with less than 1,500 calories per day), kidney and vascular diseases (preeclampsia, hypertension), fetal hypoxia, infections (cytomegaly, rubella), anomalies of the umbilical cord or placenta that disrupt the normal metabolism of the child.
But ZVU can arise for a completely harmless reason. For example, children with low birth weight are traditionally born to miniature mothers, as well as in mountainous areas, high above sea level. There is no danger in this case.
In fact, this diagnosis is very often made even when the date of conception and gestational age are determined inaccurately or if the equipment was not accurate enough.
Doctors determine the GPA if the child's body weight is 10% below normal. This is a very small discrepancy, agree. Therefore, there is no need to worry, for the time remaining before the birth, the baby will still have time to complete and exceed the standards for both height and weight.
But it is imperative to regularly visit a doctor who will keep track of changes in your weight and size of the uterus, and if something is wrong, the doctor will take emergency measures to improve the health of the mother and baby. Also, if you are still smoking or drinking alcohol, you should quit immediately. Bad habits for pregnant women are doubly harmful.
The average weight gain this week is about 9.5 kg. The height of the fundus of the uterus is 29 cm. More and more often, the urge to urinate due to the fact that the growing uterus presses on the bladder. And these are still flowers - or will it be on the eve of childbirth! Don't worry, everything is going fine until you feel any discomfort while urinating. Then you should tell your doctor about it in order to check the kidneys.
A rapidly growing baby takes up more and more space. It becomes hard for you, you are clumsy, the gained weight, unusual for you, affects. Pat it a little. After 2-3 weeks, your body will more or less adapt to new dimensions for itself, it will become easier for you, and there it is not far before childbirth.
Your breasts begin to actively produce colostrum, so your baby will have something to eat after birth. Colostrum is as white as milk, but much more sticky and nutritious. It contains a unique set of nutrients that simultaneously provide nutrition and immune protection to the newborn.
Colostrum is secreted after childbirth for only 2-3 days, then milk comes to replace it. So try to feed your baby this healthy food properly, because he will never have to try it again in his life.
If you don't see colostrum flowing from your breast, that doesn't mean you don't have it. Don't worry about breastfeeding problems either. It's just that every woman has her own terms.
The modern theory of breastfeeding says that any woman can breastfeed her baby and wait for him to have enough of both colostrum and milk. If you have problems, the HW consultants will help you.
During this period, many women become extremely impressionable. As we already wrote in the article on week 28, the expectant mother is worried about a wide variety of fears. Partly, they are expressed in her dreams, and partly in the fact that in real life she becomes too sensitive to anything that might suggest her to think about the dangers associated with pregnancy and childbirth.
She avoids any such information in books, newspapers, the Internet. “It’s easier not to know, and the mood does not spoil,” is the motto of most mothers in the last stages of pregnancy. One can only agree with this. Indeed, in fact, the chances of complications are not as great as it seems after reading the mass of "horror stories" on this topic.
Even on this site, we warn about a pathology every week, although in fact most women will not encounter any of them. Therefore, now we will not write about anything terrible. Everything will be fine. Everything will definitely be fine if you closely monitor your health and visit a doctor.
In the meantime, we should prepare for the next milestone: starting next week of pregnancy, working mothers will be given maternity leave.
