Murphy's laws of communication

Mother Murphy's objection to F.T. Barnum

(Barnum F. Taylor (1810-1891) - American showman who founded "The Greatest Show on Earth" (1871), which then merged with its main competitor (1881), forming the famous Bailey Circus. This refers to the phrase he once said: "Children love to be fooled."

1. Your child can only be fooled once.

2. Your child can be bribed many times.

How to improve family communication

The best way to open up the channels of communication between all your children is to go to bed early with your spouse, put on some romantic music, and lock your bedroom door. Very soon, your entire family will camp at your bedroom door with a large set of questions that need to be discussed in depth.

Where do children come from

Telling your kids where other kids come from is a waste of time ... they already know everything, and they've already taught it to tons of other kids.

Don't overdo it with hospitality

If your kids don't have friends, never invite the neighbors' kids to "come and feel at home," or they'll turn your home into a menagerie.

Six-year-old skepticism

Your six-year-old child does not believe in Santa Claus, in the Fairy of Teeth, or in the story that you and your spouse go to bed on Saturday morning at ten o'clock solely to "take a nap."

Ability to get out

Children have brilliant excuses in store for everything:

1. If they are late: "My nose was running, so I got my feet wet and I had to change shoes for a long time."

2. If they are not able to sit still at the dinner table: "And stirring is very useful for my digestion."

3. If they have a mess in their room: "I somehow tried to clean everything neatly, but I couldn't find anything later!"

4. If they bite their nails: "I only eat natural products and prefer the food that I have at hand."

Name game

The more children you have, the more names you have to shout out before you get to the name of the child you are calling to answer the phone.

Surprise is worse than a stick or a stone

Sticks and stones do not break their bones, but whatever name the parents choose will always hurt them.

Consequence

No matter how harmless you think your child's name is, he will definitely be teased on this basis.

Mother Bell's Laws

(Bell Alexander Graham (Graham) (1847-1922) - American inventor and educator. His main invention is the telephone.)

1. When the phone rings, it’s for sure they call your overage child.

2. When a phone bill comes in, it’s probably to you.

Exceptions from the normal state

Teenagers are always pouting and moping. Except for those situations when they are hanging on the phone.

Selective hearing rule

1. When your children think that they are calling you, they are not able to hear the call, even if they are two steps away from the phone.

2. When they are waiting for a call from their friends or girlfriends, they are easily able to hear the phone, even while standing under the shower.

Consequence

Only teenagers are willing to chat on the phone with any crook who sells aluminum siding or collects money for charity.

The dialogue dilemma

1. When you would like to talk to your grown-up children, they are too busy with their own affairs.

2. When your grown-up children would like to talk with you, you rush around the house like a madman, late for work.

3. And they want to talk about what exactly you should buy them on the way home from work.

Consequence

In addition, your grown-up children are eager to talk to you about their innermost thoughts when you:

1. Taking a bath or doing something else that is more thoughtful and important in the bathroom.

2. Talking on the phone.

3. Trying to fill out your tax return.

4. Have fallen asleep.

Communication failures

1. When you ask them a question, they don't answer.

2. When you give them an answer, they object.

Communication quirks

1. Teens become especially talkative when they are in the bathroom or toilet.

2. You cannot hear a word of what they say because the door is closed and water is pouring.
